The site
The Dragon Centre is North Cornwall's flagship leisure centre, with
a 6-lane 25m swimming pool, large main hall with high ceiling which
will be the 24 hour juggling hall. The main hall is overlooked by the
café / viewing gallery. The main hall will also house the traders
area at one end. For those of you at Perth last year the hall area is
about the same size.
For workshops we have two squash courts, both with viewing galleries,
and two further rooms. There are numerous toilets and hot showers available
24 hours. We have two free swimming sessions arranged and of course
you can pay to swim at any time.
To the rear of the centre will be located the catering tent, beer tent,
Swamp Circus tent, and camping area. We have a huge camping area with
lovely views of the Cornish countryside. There is a hard standing area
for caravans and camper vans. We also have the use of the outdoor tennis
courts and all weather pitch. This is all directly behind the centre
so no long walks! We are hoping to secure a hall next door as a dedicated
unicycling venue.
There is ample car parking in the college car park next door - about
two minutes walk. There will be a drop off point for people to deliver
their camping equipment.
The Swamp Circus tent will be home to the Open stage, BYJOTY and extra
workshop space.
A volley club net and mats for acro will be available to use in the
main hall.
Catering and beer
Vegetarian and carnivorous food will be served in the café and
the catering tent all day. Reasonably priced beer will be served in
the beer tent including real ales. The town centre pubs, cafes etc are
one mile away.
IMPORTANT NOTES
No outdoor footwear is to be worn in the main hall because of the special
flooring. Unicycling may be allowed in the sportshall if non marking
tyres and plastic pedals are used.. If the floor is damaged we will
have to pay for it.
There is no smoking anywhere inside the Dragon centre.
Because of the health and safety and insurance issues no sleeping will
be allowed anywhere inside the Dragon centre and no animals may be brought
onto site (except guide dogs).
